I am in some agreeance with you on the matter of it messing with your head.

I certainly became desensitized to the whole thing... but in the long run (I can't verify this for violence) after being away from it for some time now I no longer show major effects of it.

I at one time was largely unimpressed by anything risque. "I've seen worse" was my common response to anything thrown at me on the internet (and I've been to 4chan for christ sake). It has now been nearly a year since I left the job and I am starting to get back some of my conservatism when it comes to sexual acts... though what conservative views I have are very limited (and have been since child hood... but that has to do with the way I was raised and not with the job I had).

Of course it still left some traces of "wow, you're a bit different now"... but for the most part the desensitizing effects of the job have for the most part worn off.



As for extreme violence I don't think this same thing occurs. But on the same level Comparing my job to violence of war is a bit dodgey... I'd more or less compare it to watching really horrible violent movies for 50+ hours a week over and over. If I had actually been in the room with these women doing the God awful things they were doing (and men)... it'd probably be a much different story.
