"Blink and you'll miss it"
Re: "Blink and you'll miss it"
With these games, you just have to relax and not be concerned about missing anything. Don't go anywhere near a guide.

Don't get me wrong, I agree with what you're saying here completely. I was just pointing out that KOTR definitely breaks the game (not that it's a very difficult game anyway), especially if intentionally abused.Gamerforlife wrote:If a player has acquired Knights, doublecast and mime, then that player WANTS to break the game. I say, more power to him. It's not like you're forced to go through the effort of getting all of that. Knights takes quite a lot of patience to acquire.
Re: "Blink and you'll miss it"
I don't think anyone here is legitimately complaining about KOTR breaking the game Gamerforlife, lol. As bruno said though, the game is hilariously easy in general, even without half the materia and the tricks.
Re: "Blink and you'll miss it"
It's pretty easy to break II, V, VI, VII, VIII, and X. II you can use blink to train your evasion to unhittable levels when you're naked, V and VI have both the quick + dualcast and the 4x hit + non-reduced damage combos, VIII you junction high level magic with low level characters and can spam limits if you keep your health "low", and X you can snag Yuna's ultimate weapon quite easily and spam 1 mp holy in the bonus dungeon for lots of easy levels and get her to learn dualcast and ultima.brunoafh wrote:Don't get me wrong, I agree with what you're saying here completely. I consider discussion of how to "break" a game to be pretty heavy on the spoilers, mechanics-wise.

Re: "Blink and you'll miss it"
Speaking of Omnislash, when I played through FFVII, I never got anything more than LV.1 limit breaks. And I had the PSN version! It was a weird glitch that I haven't heard reported before.Gamerforlife wrote:You CANNOT play a Final Fantasy game without a guide if you don't want to miss anything. Fact. Square doesn't design these games in any kind of logical way. Essentially, they design these games FOR guides. I'm convinced that they do it intentionally, otherwise their designers are just insane.
Also, Knights of the Round is awesome! I wouldn't tell anyone NOT to get it. However, if you want to keep the game challenging, just don't finish the Chocobo sidequest that eventually gets you Knights of the Round
Omnislash is every bit as awesome and overpowered. You get that for completing the battle arena. Normally, you're only supposed to see it when you beat the game, but you can get it early from the arena. If you want to take down the hidden bosses(a.k.a. the Weapons), you will want those as well as Master Materia and I think there was something that gives you a double cast ability.
If you're playing FF7 without a guide, you WILL miss something. Guaranteed, and that's coming from another perfectionist/completionist, so I know.

tl;dr Final Fantasy games are some of the easiest JRPG's out there.MrPopo wrote:It's pretty easy to break II, V, VI, VII, VIII, and X. Re: "Blink and you'll miss it"
It's been forever and a day since I thought about FF7. My friend who was as a total freak about the game got every single master materia in the game and showed me the whole KOTR/Quad/Mime complex. That ...took ...FOREVER. I mean he kill could kill the final boss in a few rounds, but it took longer because of the summon set up that he had.

I once accidentally Quadra'd Bahamut ZERO and double casted it on Diamond Weapon. Bahamut ZERO has about the same cast time as KOTR but most of it is animation, rather than dudes attacking, so it was quite boring.weaponepsilon wrote:It's been forever and a day since I thought about FF7. Yeah, the "Ah Sweet!" feeling dies quickly when you do it like that. I mean you literally hit the button, go make a sandwich, eat it, hit the can, wash the hands, and the damn animation is still going! So you managed to find a way to effectively use a huge summon 20 times per rounds...The cost: waiting absurdly long for it to end. It was too bad you couldn't skip all that back in the day. Y'know, hit X or something and have it skip the pain and go straight to the damage?
