Pre-ordering it won't even get you those three exclusives. Buying the game only gets you 6 out of a pool of 20 presumably buy-the-game-new exclusive cards. Between those 20 and the eight confirmed promos (the three CN ones, four magazine exclusive ones, and one that's given out to the first 250 to buy the game at Nintendo World Center in NYC), that leaves, at a maximum, 172 of the 200 cards to be standards obtained by the 10-card packs.

They'll start out as event-exclusive, but will become open to the public eventually (no date given). Here's the confirmed events:
* WonderCon – March 16-18
* PAX East – April 6-8
* San Diego ComicCon – July 12-15
* PAX Prime – August 26-28

Man I want to go to a video game convention so bad. If only for the free stuff and other gamers. But I'm surprised they aren't just storming out of the gate with AR booster packs. I'd think with all the pushing they're doing to KI:U they'd at least do that.

Then again, they're coming, so I'm not complaining.

Ahh what the heck. This game looks better than the original. I'll give it a whirl.

My guess is that AR cards are going to work sort of like DLC already in games but locked; devs can release it whenever they want, but it would be most beneficial to release them when sales start to drop.

Between that and the random AR cards, the big N's really trying not to let people buy the game used.

The stand is supposedly to address complaints with holding the 3DS in the same fashion for long periods of time. The game controls like Metroid Prime Hunters on DS by default, so the stand's there to make it easier to use the stylus for aiming. Personally I had no issues with how Hunters worked, but I'll likely give the stand a shot. And if I don't like it at least it'll provide me with an easy way to display the handheld in my game room :)

Of course, controls are customizable in a similar fashion to Brawl so the stand is entirely optional.
