I'd recommend slogging through piles of Gyromite carts in shops until you locate one with a converter. It's worth the trouble and you'll end up finding some other goodies along the way.
More than that, just grab a Famicom. A loose one is pretty affordable unless you are stuck on getting an AV.
NES/Famicom Adapter
Re: NES/Famicom Adapter
I'm really wondering where you folks are finding stacks of Gyromite carts. Maybe it's just a regional thing, since I've done most of my collecting in the southeastern U.S., and I don't spend a lot of time at flea markets, but I think I've seen fewer than five gyromite carts in the wild in my life. I don't even own one, and the NES is my primary system.Duke.Togo wrote:I'd recommend slogging through piles of Gyromite carts in shops until you locate one with a converter. I've seen quite a few Gyromite carts. I'm in the midwest though.

I'm in the midwest. I have been in stores that literally had stacks of them.
Re: NES/Famicom Adapter
Also, no offense to Gyromite (or anyone who is the biggest Gyromite fan ever), but the only reason me or any of my friends even know what it is is because of the adapter. It's not like it's actually an awesome classic or anything.Ziggy587 wrote:If you have a Gyromite (or whatever) cart with the adapter inside, you don't even have to "make" a dedicated adapter out of it to use it. You could just swap the PCB out of the Famicom cart for the Gyromite PCB, then close the cart back up and use it like a regular old NES cart. Of course, if there's a bunch of Famicom carts you wanna play on your NES, this isn't a good option since it'll take a while every time you wanna switch a game. But it is an option, for the less mod-savvy person.

Swap Meets and Flea markets are usually a good source, find some great surprises!Limewater wrote:I'm really wondering where you folks are finding stacks of Gyromite carts.
