Why Is There No Jade Empire 2 Yet?

I adored Jade Empire and beat it several times (once for each character and then some) but at this point I've stopped hoping for a sequel.

It seems obvious to me that, whether the reasons are financial or otherwise, they're just not interested in doing it. That said, I hope they prove me wrong one day.

It helps that I really love Mass Effect, so I always look forward to that (though I'm wary of where the series will go when the current trilogy concludes) but I really miss Jade Empire.

For me I'd have to say, as much as I like Mass Effect as well, I think the KOTOR games did a lot of things better. But yeah, guess I'm just knocking on wood here and we'll probably never get a true KOTOR 3.

Jade Empire needs a Trilogy!

Out some of my fondest memories with Bioware.Jade Empire for me beats out Kotor (highly) and Mass Effect (slightly).The conclusion/events at the end of game blew me away.I can see a good clean transition for 2 more sequels!

I briefly remember seeing some sort of clue as to part 2 becoming a probability

So once again would like to encourage the developers to give thought to our outcry for his cult classic,It'll be a hit I promise

When Jade Empire originally came out, I was slightly disappointed with the game..primarily because the original KOTOR was so damn good.

However, I recently went back and played the game again, and I agree with you: It's fantastic and way better than I remember! I'd love to see a sequel

Bioware games have been pretty lackluster lately. Seems like they're now trying to cater more to the regular Joe Blow gamers than the D&D hardcore RPG ones. Jade Empire was okay though.

I'd like to see a new Baldur's Gate.

I liked Jade Empire, but let's face it. The game had a crap combat system that was hyped liked crazy by Bioware. It's their weakest, most disappointing game by far. Mass Effect made huge strides with real time combat compared to their other titles. IF they do a Jade Empire sequel, they better give me the awesome combat system that was promised in the first game. I mean they promised this amazing real time combat system, like an rpg crossed with a good beat'em up. What we got was fairly bland, and you can find more interesting real time combat in a Kingdom Hearts game. Honestly, I'd much rather see a KOTOR 3, or even another Mass Effect game

Hell, I'd rather see MDK 3.

Even though I'm still excited for ME3, yeah I agree with this. I think ME1 showed a lot of promise, but the series has kind of lost itself. ME1 felt a lot bigger in scope/story, Shepard felt more realistic and human... just one man in the galaxy, and the world didn't quite revolve around him. Now it does, because he's Jesus Christ of the universe and saving everything. I'm also a little disgusted by the new trailers and the "Take back Earth!" stuff... I play sci-fi to get away from Earth, I'm just really bored with that cliche' that fell on Halo, etc, too much sci-fi nowadays.

ME2 was also really flat, when you take out the crew characters and their stories/missions, what did the game have underneath? Nothing really. Pretty basic plot with some lame twists at the end there. There was no Saren like character who was awesome, the Collectors were just ... mindless drones that weren't interesting at all. The Geth were way cooler, with Saren at the center there. And just everything about the Reapers, Protheans, etc, in ME1 was amazingly cool. No peaks like that in ME2 to me.

So all in all, ME3 looks like it'll be fun, but probably disappointing in a lot of ways too. I think this trilogy could have been a lot more. I for one am still a little upset how the RPG elements (stats/abilities) have become so bare bones since ME1 as well. Hence, why like I said above I think the KOTOR's did a lot of things better. Felt more like RPG's, and you could actually play real Neutral characters. In ME, it really just boils down to good or bad... and they're not that different in the end.

I reckon SWTOR, Dragon Age, and Mass Effect are taking the majority of BioWare's time, and let's not forget that they're handling the next Command and Conquer too. It'll be a while till we see another Jade Empire more than likely.

In an interview, they did say they really want to do Jade Empire 2, they're just waiting for the right moment to do it.
