Re: Good Genesis Beat-em-ups? (Other than SoR series)
It's a Run n Gun game like Contra or Metal Slug on the Genesis. It's very good, but it doesn't really have much to do with Batman other than the fact that his name is on the box. The SNES version feels much more like a real Batman game and is a lot like the cartoon, while the Genesis version really has nothing to do with the cartoon at all. Still, the Genesis version is a very good run n gun game, one of the best on the system. It's not a beat'em up thoughharper wrote:How's Adventures of Batman and Robin on the Genesis? I know the snes version is awesome but different from the Genesis one.

Yeah, the original X-Men is hard to go back to and play. It just pisses you off more than anything. But when it first came out, I was all kinds of excited and played the heck out of the game.brunoafh wrote:Clone Wars is exponentially better.marlowe221 wrote:Is the first X-men game any good?
X-Men 2: Clone Wars shows some of the best graphics, sound, and gameplay that the Genesis has to offer, on the other hand.

Re: Good Genesis Beat-em-ups? (Other than SoR series)
The X-Men games on the Genesis are not beat em ups, they are action platformers. I think X-Men 2 makes a way better first impression then the original but playing both of them a lot the first X-Men has grown on me and X-Men 2 gets weaker as the game goes on.
I like...
(2P) Alien Storm (Golden Axe except fighting Aliens very fun)
(2P) Battletoads and Double Dragon (really fun and to me I like it just as much if not more then the Snes version)
(2P) Captain America (nice and way better then the Snes version)
(1P) Comix Zone (Great animations graphics and music. The game is on a single plain and there are some little puzzles but great game)
(2P) Golden Axe 1-2-3 (GA 3 makes a bad first impression but has definitely become my favorite of the Genesis trio)
(2P) Power Rangers Movie (Nice graphics great music, the least variety of enemies in a beat em up hurts it's grade)
(1P) Splatterhouse 2-3 (2 has no combo's and is on a single plain it's still good though. 3 brings in combo's, z-axis movement and multiple paths)
(2P) The Punisher (Absolute carnage tons of moves and weapons. Definitely one of the best beat em ups available on a home console. Graphics should have been better and music is dull)
(2P) TMNT Hyperstone Heist (Great graphics, music and gameplay. The only thing that brings this game down is that there is a clearly superior version on the Snes. The Genesis game lacks variety, Stage 4 the Gauntlet takes laziness to another level)
There are a lot more but I would play these before the rest.
Adventures of Batman and Robin on the Genesis is great but it's a Gunstar Heroes game with insane difficulty.

I am addicted to video games, especially retro gaming from my era. I have: NES, SNES, Nintendo 64, Gamecube, Gameboy, GBA, Wii, Sega Genesis, Sega CD, Dreamcast, PS1, PS2, Xbox, and Xbox 360. I have probably over 1,000 games in total for all these systems combined. Yes, I need help and I wouldn't have it any other way! This is my passion and hey my wife still loves me!!

Re: Good Genesis Beat-em-ups? (Other than SoR series)
Double Dragon for the Genesis is nearly arcade perfect! (Nothing like the NES version!)
Splatterhouse 3 is also awesome - probably my favorite beat-em up on the system, next to SoR 2.. Splatterhouse 2 is great, also, but plays exactly the same as the original one for the TG-16/arcade.
You may also want to look into the much lesser known Two Crude Dudes. It's not half bad, (although it gets a bit repetitive.)
Finally, when I was a kid, there was an arcade game called DJ Boy that I used to dump nearly half my week's allowance into whenever I was at the local bowling alley. You were a kid on roller skates beating up punks in order to get your girlfriend back from a local gang. The Genesis was the only system to receive a port, but I've never played it.
Can anyone who's played the original arcade game recommend this port??
