yeah same. I never played for score until I started paying attention to these threads and bruno's Shmup Of The Month threads. It's motivation to get better. :D

G Darius is great. It's one of those 3D polygons on a 2D plane shmups, y'know? Kind of like Einhander or R-Type Delta. I like it quite a bit.

I may have to try it out then. Never played those "2.5D" shmups, (except for Radiant Silvergun) so this should be interesting.

EDIT: I take that back. Now that I thought about it more, I've played Castle Shikigami II and III, Nanostray, Ikaruga, and Chaos Fields. No idea why I said I haven't played 2.5D shmups. Still gonna give G-Darius a shot. It looks real good.

I just picked this up for my Saturn. If I can manage a score that isn't too embarrassing I'll post a pic.

Big edit and BIG oops!

I tried to best my 2-million score and I realized that my Saturn virtua stick's auto fire was on, but the slider was halfway to max. It wasn't going as fast as the 'auto fire' videos, but just slightly faster than normal. So to be fair I did another run making sure the auto fire was completely off. Here is my score with that run:

1,777,794 - hashiriya1 - Zone I - Saturn (J)

Could someone tell me why my score ends with a "4"? I obviously didn't continue. I looked at other high scores for this game and they ALL end in "zero".

Nice job guys!! Just updated the OP. Also, pics are not COMPLETELY necessary, but recommended when taking the lead, or a top spot in general. Not an issue with me, but it may be with other people you beat. I like trusting people.

And now... To do something about that new top score :P

How is the Virtua Stick for shmups? I have that and an ASCII stick, but never got around to making them stick to whatever surface they were on.

It's cool. My only complaint is the gate is a little wide, but not too bad.

PS. I put zone "L" in my hi score because that is how far I got with the accidental auto-fire but I forgot to change it to "I" when I revised my hi score. So if you can, please change the original post to zone "I" for my hi score. Thanks.

1,259,220 - Dunpeal2064 - H - PS2

No auto-fire hack on the ps2 port as far as I can tell, so I just set square and triangle both to shot, and used that for better fire rate on bosses. Drumming 2 small buttons is much easier than one small button.

This game is tough! Very fun though.
