Otokuyo tries to match the region of your console, which iirc also affects defaults. I sold my copy or I would test it.

You killed my score, very nice.

Yeah, I am playing on Otokuyo on a US Saturn and haven't noticed anything like what you were describing.

Trust me, if I play it on a US console I'm going to be in the 7 mil range after a warmup.

Not pic worthy :/ but not horrible for a first go after at least a year.

I just now realized you can change the type of targeting net you can have.

I played around with Souky today on my US Saturn. I tried approaching it a few different ways. I wasn't suffering from cold play syndrome for once so I decided to keep pushing different techniques. I played it like a normal shmup and beefed up my ship's main guns. Unfortunately this only got me so far. Maybe with some more memorization I might be able to get further with this method. You'd think I would have memorized the game by now after all these years... Hah. I also tried waiting to beef up my guns until later. This just made Souky angry.

So I fell back onto my old anemic style, avoiding power ups and relying solely my lock on weapons. Funny how that method netted me my furthest and highest scoring play of the day (and in awhile). I got to Stage 5 without a single life lost. About halfway through 5 my game started to fall apart. I lost two ships to some bullet barf. I got to Stage 6 and foolishly handed over another ship to the lasers at the beginning of the stage. I handed over another to some more bullet barf shortly after. I went for broke in my last ship and died before the mid boss.
