I'm sorry that's just....wrong.
I'm sure the police and prosecutors excuse will be that Justin and the other kids didn't have to go and find pot no matter what the police said, because he would have known it was illegal (and to a point, I agree with that), but the way they went about it was wrong. They should be targeting actual adult drug dealers, not love struck kids at high school (that they purposefully seduced).
The police tried to put an undercover in our school, but from what I heard that didn't work for them. I never met him myself, but from what I heard the guy was just a little too interested in finding the weed. Idiot practically tipped everybody off who was in a 100 mile radius. Even the teachers were suspicious of him, and they weren't told he was undercover. They never made any arrests at our school.
They even brought drug sniffing dogs. They locked the school down and we could hear them in the halls. They still didn't find anything. Then they raided a girls house during her birthday party thinking they'd find something. Nada. Most extreme thing they found was generic punch. I think they needed to get their inside info eleswhere. The newspapers were making fun of them for weeks.
Entrapment
Re: Entrapment
This story entertains me. How the hell did the cops even pass as high schoolers? I suppose if you're stupid enough to fall for that you're stupid enough to buy drugs for them.

Re: Entrapment
Didn't you know? It's better to attack random people on the street than the organized people who grow, distribute and sell this stuff, that just isn't efficient.sabrage wrote:We've got that ass-backwards here. Growing is legal (with a license) but actually smoking it is not. What?

Just letting you know, my medicine is the ganja. This is pretty messed up. Also pretending to be in love with someone just to bust them is pretty awful.Hobie-wan wrote:Ok, I don't actually have hopes for this not turning into a clusterfuck political mess and I think smoking pot is dumb if not for medical reasons, but I think people should be able to do stuff that's not too terribly harmful to themselves or others if they're not too stupid about it. I just gotta share this asanine bull though.
Sweet giminy fragging christmas on a pogo stick.

Seems like a very one sided story.

I think you just solidified the argument that drugs are bad.
But, I do like your idea of an "apartment car"; sounds like "a lease you can live in".

Looks at where the Netherlands are on that list.....drugs seem pretty fine to me. People are driven to crime by a tough economic environment, low education, social inequality and a whole other bunch of reasons.
Saying drugs will push you to crime, is the same as saying alcohol or heck capitalism (a thirst for wealth?) will lead you to commit crimes to get what you want. It's just not true.
What is wrong? Bad drugs (unregulated and unchecked) getting into people's systems. The state should allow it to be legal, sold, taxes get payed that way, and of course the ministry of health will demand quality checks (and perhaps a restriction to the amount a single user can do? for his own health?) of the drugs for the good of its citizens.
EDIT
oh and also, what those cops did is disgusting. A case shouldn't hold in court of its entrapment. It's undemocratic. And shouldn't the cop also go to jail? She fucking seduced a teenager. Though this one is 18, maybe they also flirted with ones who are under the age of consent.
