Looks like that giraffe could really use a straw.

I came to post that, but taken care of.
Luke wrote:*shakes cane* What ever happened to real skateboards like vision, or powell peralta? It's all long boards and cruisers these days. Why skate on a board that can't ollie?

And get off my grass!
Hey now, skinny boards came before those Cadillacs. I had one really close to the blue plastic guy here when I was little. Mine just had clear yellow wheels, not red.

Oh man. The days of Nash and banana boards. But they still had some sort of lip that you could use to ollie. And there is nothing wrong with skating on a long board pretending that you are surfing, but that's all you can do on those boards (surely there is someone though who can ollie on one of these things, right?).

This totally derails the thread, but does anyone else remember the first time you dropped in? I'll never forget it. 10 foot ramp, which sounds small until you get ready to drop. Your mind says "Okay, if you lean back a little you'll be fine", but the opposite is true. Crouch and lean forward as much as possible or the back of your skull will say hello to concrete in a hurry.

I need to post pics of my board when I get home.

Speaking of powell-perallta boards, they're still around and coming back in a BIG way. I think today's skaters are realizing how totally rad pool skating can be so they're gobbling up those boards like candy. Just the other day I went into my local Eastern Boarder to pick up some grip for that longboard in the pic and the manager was telling me how popular the smaller cruisers and pool boards are becoming. Trust me man, I appreciate those cruisers and pool boards, specifically the graphics. Love em. Also I feel the need to point out that skating doesn't just have to be about tricks and how awesome your grinds are. Sometimes it's just about the pleasure of taking a cruise. If people wanna trick skate, be my guest. If people wanna just cruise, go right ahead. It's all skating, man.

As long as people enjoy skating, I'm all for it; fruitbooters included. Just a personal preference that I like to do things other than just stand on a board and push (hope that doesn't come off as jerky).

With that said I love going on bike rides without having to bunny hop. But even if I go for a casual skate, I do like to have the option to grind the occasional curb.

In the end, yes, no matter what. Skate skate skate.

I'm glad I could get a few smiles out of you guys! I'll hopefully be doing another one soon. I enjoyed drawing on that deck too much.

It's a bit cliche, but I think you could pull off an awesome JAWS rendition on a long board if you use your own spin on the design.

I so need to get Mikey's board from TMNT II that sports the Watchmen logo.
