So basically the money raised by said tax would just go to stupid PSA'S? Just buy all the fat kids treadmills both problems solved. They wouldn't be obese and they would be in shape so they wouldn't get bullied.

Also I see no way in hell that could pass but who knows I don't live in OK so I wouldn't care of it did pass.

I knew a few kids I went to school with who played pokemon and got bullied because of it.
I think you have it backwards. The point is that they are saying violent videogames lead kids to become bullies, not that it leads them to getting bullied.

Everything no matter what it is sold in Australia gets taxed- including video games. The difference is that it doesn't go towards anything like bullying or fat kids, mostly politicians wallets or maybe schools and hospitals once in a while.

Likewise here. What they're talking about is an extra tax on top of the normal tax.

Ah, well disregard my uninformed comment then.

Ah, I see. That makes a little more sense, but still nothing that taxing is going to fix.

In the US pretty much everywhere there is a sales tax. Not all items are taxed (in WA groceries aren't taxed, for example) but everything eligible is. Then there might be additional taxes on top of that. For example, there is what is colloquially known as a "sin tax" on tobacco and alcohol which is above the normal sales tax charged.

This is really a non-story. There are dozens of bullshit bills conceived by random representatives all the time. A website decided to get to generate some ad revenue from this particular one is all.
