REmake is definetly the better game. So you'd want to play RE0 first, so you don't get burnt out. But at the same time, you appreciate RE0's story more if you've already played RE1. If you've played the original version of RE1, then you'll be good to go, though.

I think the way RE0 is written, it kinda expects you to know what happened in 1. Play REmake first, I can't stress this enough.
