Similarly, I usually wave the stickered item about 4" above a halogen lamp for about 8-10 seconds. Focus on a small area, keep it moving, take it away from the heat, peel a little, stop and repeat.
I think this gives good control over the heat exposure, though this same technique would probably work just as well (if not better) with the hairdryer idea mentioned above.
