Why would I give it a go? I'm...already soft modded and it went perfectly fine...
Anyway yeah I'll add it in there some where for advisory purposes.

Re: Soft Modding the Wii and Using a USB Loader 4.3U (Guide)
This may be a good place to ask.
How do I go about installing Virtual Console games? Do I just download the .wad file, put it in the main directory of my sd crd, and load it from bootmii? I was mainly confused as to where on the sd card to put the .wad file.
Seems simple enough, but I didn't want to mess it up, so I figured I should play it safe and ask.

Personally i try things to learn and experience new and possibly better, more efficient ways to do a given task. Especially when more then one person with more experience then myself suggests it.KDub wrote:Why would I give it a go? I'm...already soft modded and it went perfectly fine...

I just think if you tried it you might get why its being recommended. But like you said .. your method works for you, and your done. Now go play some legally backed up Skyward Sword!! hehe

You'll need a Wad Manger (or the Wad Manager). Pick the application you want that installs WAD files and place it into the App folder on the root of your SD Card (Or check Homebrew Browser if you have that installed). Then make a folder named wad on the root of your SD card and place the actual wad file there.
Boot up your Wii and go to the Homebrew Channel and load your WAD Manager, then select the wad you want to install.
Installing WAD files like flashing cIOS files can brick your wii if they are corrupted or not the right type for your system, make sure you back up your NAND with BootMii.

Hey thanks for this, I now have the Homebrew Channel on my wii. Still not entirely sure what that means or what I'll be able to get out of it but at least it's there.
haha

Back up your games to a USB hard drive and play them from said hard drive. This will keep wear and tear off the discs and the optical drive!

You are indeed welcome
That was the biggest thing for me. You can also install things like WiiMC (Wii media Center) which allows you to watch DVDs, video files or play music, random HomeBrew Games (I haven't found one I've liked yet though), Emulators, or install some system apps to keep things clean and backed up.
For example you can use a program to download all of your saves to your SD and then extract them and edit them on your computer (or just have them for a back up and clear the ones that can't be transferred to your SD card off the Wii until you need them again).
http://www.wiibrew.org might help point you to an app to try. It also has the link to get the Homebrew Browser so you can download a select list off apps right from your Wii.

Have any idea where would be a safe place to download a IOS37-64-v5662.wad file? I apparently need it because I'm offline, I don't have a way to connect my wii to internet right now, and trying to install the d2x something or another. Just don't want to download some random file that'll mess everything up.
Re: Soft Modding the Wii and Using a USB Loader 4.3U (Guide)
Not sure. Is your menu 4.3? I found one thread with someone getting the d2x7 installer asking for that wad when you aren't.
As far as I recall and as I know the cIos d2x installer I linked to had all the files there, nothing needed to be connected to the internet once the app was on your SD card.
It might be easier to make sure you have a NAND backup and then looking into updating to 4.3 (if you don't have that) and redoing the exploit (should be possible but of course double check).
Maybe someone else will have a different answer for you.

Yeah I had 4.3 to begin with. It just says "Offline mode: (insert file name here) required"
