I guess that is so... then really my guesses on which of the two (360 or PS3) would be a better homebrew station... really it could be either. They both sound like nice little places to play around in.
personally though I like the directx support that the 360 offers me. I know directx, I don't know PS3 libraries. Especially the XNA extensions to directx, I'm using XNA right now for a crossplatformable indie title... well actually 2 titles.
but that is only dreams... dreams that I wish would come true.

I agree that XNA is a cool thing. Is there any plans to distribute XNA-based games over standard Live setups? If not.... I don't know. Well, seeing how there is already linux running on PS3 w/o modding, perhaps I'd be happiest with a game-based PPC Linux distro for PS3, and using OpenAL, OpenGL and SDL instead of DirectX, since I don't know Directx anyways. Although I think I read that Linux is run in a sort of hardware sandbox similar to the PS2Linux crap, which means no direct access to the video hardware. In that case... again, I don't know. Maybe 360 once it's hacked more. Especially when I see things like this:
