What would you suggest I do?

Stay status quo - don't do anything until you can outright afford buy w/o having to move any of the collection.

I'm keeping my rare NES and the stuff I do occasionally play, but the rest will go. It's pretty easy to reacquire the ones i'll end up moving, that it makes sense I think.

PSX rpg's yeah, they are all gonna go. I'll keep a few action / adventure games and a few JP shmups, but the rest will go.

Mostly it will be collectibles and sealed stuff that I don't display any longer and is basically "tying" up other gaming monies sitting in rubbermaid bins.

I wonder if any of the items that say "Sony" on them will be mailed to me?

I doubt it, it's stuff you either have - or pricey JP stuff most likely.

To paraphrase Ralphie from A Christmas Story... Nothing could drag me away from the soft glow of electric sex that is the Darius Burst cab!

I'd get that if space & funds were available.

Possibly, I have (3) rounds of purging planned:
Round 1 - Console stuff, stuff I was going to move either way.
Round 2 - Arcade stuff (probably not on racket though)
Round 3 - Stuff that i'm cool w/selling for sake of this project, but if I can keep them and still do what I want to do, I will. Harmful, Cotton (both of em), Gaia, and Zanac would be in this round.

There is a dollar amount I need. I'm hopeful to get there after 2 rounds. We shall see...

I'd go for the Egret II. I sold a bit of my collection off to first get involved with arcade collecting. First with a 2 slot Neo Geo MVS woody, and then later with a Sega Blast City. I loved that Blast City to death but ended up selling it because of money problems.

I loved it though and loved collecting for it. Its worth selling off some of your collection for. You can always get it back anyways. Just don't get too caried away collecting arcade stuff. Theres so much amazing stuff you can buy and it starts getting crazy if you don't watch it. I easily spent $3000 the first 4-5 months of owning my cabs on hardware and games.

Yeah, it is pricey, i've put a real chunk of change into it (arcade stuff) and have a pretty solid collection so far - more than pricey, it is bulky and space is a premium, so I have to be smart going forward too. I've been pretty smart in that i've managed to not part with anything I didn't mind parting with.

I voted for route 2, but this would also be good, if they are packed away, do you even visit them? I have never been a PlayStation fan so that would be what I let go. Some times I have had to think really hard about letting stuff go but in the end found it to be the right choice. Good luck on what ever choice you make. The X2 stuff would be great but is way to expensive right now. I say wait five or so years before taking on that challenge.

Yes, i've cooled a bit on the X2 stuff - I had a chance to watch some vids side by side of console v. arcade on SFIVAE and it was identical imo. That isn't the case w/older stuff of course. Add in that the stock sticks available now (VLX, and TE's) are essentially full-on arcade quality - it makes a home-arcade setup make a lot more sense.

I know what i'm doing for the most part, my currently dead Blast will determine the rest.

The reason I got out of NAOMI so fast was that I wasn't noticing the difference in play from the NAOMI cart to the DC-GD-rom on games like Giga Wing 2 and Cosmic Smash. I did notice it on Gunspike and I really wanted Illmatic Envelope, but the pain in the ass that is the NAOMI setup isn't worth it for only 2 games.
