What Sites Do You Check/Read More Than Once A Day

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

We also linked to each other and I could contact Neiro whenever I wanted. Once they got bigger, some editor I didn't know (and that didn't know me) just replied like I was some kid that didn't know any better.
Ugh, thats awful.

I just don't like how their hierarchy goes, and the fact that they get paid a livable amount to do what they do, which is to say, what all of us on this forum do; post bullshit about games. This then leads to thousands of other bloggers desperately trying to make their way into the Destructoid league, in hopes that they won't have to work a real job either. I've known and spoken to a few who have spent so much energy trying to get into this cult, as if their lives have no other purpose. I just don't understand it. I think once all the money was brought into the formula at Toid, they lost focus soon after.
Didn't know about the Summa thing. I'll see if I can find what you're talking about :)
I know he wrote at Joystiq -- is that what you're thinking of?
It's a lot of digging. I know I started a little revolt somewhere around the last 10 of his articles. Its got at least 100 comments. I was always on that guy's case. It was hilarious.

Could't find them in the first few pages. Most of the posts I saw didn't have any comments.

About the blogging thing, I actually sent in an "application" to be a part-time blogger right after they started getting big and before I really started finding my own groove.
They actually advertised for applications and I only did it to see what they were paying, etc and to see if it would be worth my time.
I wanna say Summa was the one that replied to that and said they didn't have any paying positions. Only work-for-free.

And way back, I actually applied to Joystiq when they were looking to beef up. But my lack of cutting edge gaming knowledge hurt me there.

Looking back, I'm happy where I am with this site even though it's not enough to live on by itself.
Being on another site, I'd be just another poster. Here I can do exactly what I want and my name is in big print on the top of the page. :)
But seriously, I think I make a bigger difference here with a tight-knit community and a focus on a solid niche.

Ugh, like I said, the site is a big fucking mess. I cant navigate it at all. Also, it looks like as you said, all his posts have very few comments. I think their server had some kind of purge at some point. His shit ALWAYS had responses.

Sites that I regularly go to (their main page):

Ars
GamersWithJobs
Blue's News
Evil Avatar
Tech Report/Xbit/Anand
IMDb / RottenTomatoes
GameTrailers (maybe not everyday, but fairly close)

Not even going to bother with all the forums and torrent sites. That's generally my morning routine though.

those are places I check for updates/actual activity

There are tons of other websites I go to just about every hour for information and the sort. You know, like dictionary.com, wikipedia, news sites, ubuntu's wiki, and masses of websites directed at specific topics I've been working with a lot at that time (I consider that last one, because I'll be stuck in some projects for months on end and have to research it in the same catalog of websites over and over).

I keep forgetting Digital Press and nfggames. The Neo-Geo forum has too many posting for me to keep up.

I got a new shift at the start of the school year and have about 3 hours of nothing time in the evening every day, and all I have a is a laptop with wireless, so I've been catching up on my sites. Good thread, I've got some more places to hit now!
