Are there patterns for these somewhere? My kids would probably enjoy making these.

You can make your own. Open up a sprite in an image editing program, zoom in, turn grid view on. You'll have to find an image properly proportioned but that shouldn't be too hard.

I'd look for sites with sprite rips so it is easier than trying to pick out a character or item from a background screenshot. But yeah like Bruno said. Zoom in with a grid turned on, or if you don't have access to one, you could zoom up the sprite to be big, print it out, then draw a grid. If you don't have a color printer, print, grid, then color it in before proceeding.

There are also computer programs for download that will turn sprites into grids and assign symbols to each color, which helps if you're doing something complicated. This is mostly intended for cross stitching as it will assign embroidery thread colors to each value, but maybe you'll find it useful. (And by the way, I highly recommend cross stitching video game sprites. It's incredibly satisfying.)gtmtnbiker wrote:Are there patterns for these somewhere? My kids would probably enjoy making these.
PCStitch. You can download the trial, but it won't allow you to save or print (I've used print screen and cobbled together the bits in Paint for printing, though).
KG-Chart. This is freeware.
These are both for PC. I don't know if anything exists at present for Macs.
For more craftsy inspiration see the Sprite Stitch blog and forum.

Really nice work. I love the flowers and I have to say that the idea is fantastic. I also would love to try it and make such flowers and then put it in a flower pot. I love flowers and I often order flowers online. I always need fresh flowers at home but I think in addition it would be nice to have the flowers you made because they are very decorative.

I love the potted "flowers". XD
It's like a real pot but a cartoon flower.

Those are really awesome. And so is that stack of Saturn games you used as a backdrop. haha
