Hmm... Out of anything? Thats damn tough.
I'd be groovy for some Sonic Wings, but I only have the first and special. I'd also rock anything Toaplan.
Granted, I'll be happy to play any shmups with you guys

Would any of you guys be interested in doing a "shmups through the ages" sort of thing?

I vote for AeroFighters2 (cuz it's in my MVS and I wanna play it more

)
I have it on my Neo Geo CD. I'd be game. It's a fun game. I'll be Mao Mao, you can be the Dolphin. If you have the Saturn version (Sonic Wings Special), you even get a music disc with Mao Mao singing!

Sonic Wings Special is the best game in the series, IMO. of course my poll vote is biased cuz it's a game that I personally want to play more.
Seriously though, I think focusing on a developer first would help narrow the poll choices.
so
if Toaplan was January then the game choices would be...
Tiger Heli
Slap Fight / Alcon
Hishouzame / Sky Shark / Flying Shark
Kyuukyoku Tiger / Twin Cobra
Tatsujin / Truxton
Hellfire
Daisenpuu / Twin Hawk
Zero Wing
Same! Same! Same! / Fire Shark
Vimana
Dogyuun
Tatsujinou / Truxton II
Fixeight
Grind Stormer / V-V
Batsugun

So it appears there's some solid interest, great. I think this could be really fun.
If you guys want to do Toaplan I'm totally down with that too. My favorite shmup dev, and I own nearly all of their console releases.
I quite like the by developer idea too, might work better than by console, which is another idea I had. I feel like that could get a bit boring over the course of a year though, perhaps do like 3-6 games from a developer at a pop then switch to a different one?

Yeah, I was thinking developers on a month by month basis and then vote on one game to play for the month. BUT that doesn't mean the same developer can't return a few months later and we re-vote on the catalog (removing the game we already played, of course.)
So just for example something like...
January: Toaplan
February: Complie
March: Hudson
April: CAVE
May: Raizing
June: Toaplan
July: Konami
August: Irem
September: SNK / NMK
October: CAVE
November: Psikyo
December: Seibu Kaihatsu (Raiden series)

We should do CAVE in December since that's when TR is doing DoDonPachi.

Good call.
We should probably throw Takumi a month, too.

And Capcom. Going by developers is definitely helpful in one way, but there are more than 12 shmup developers, unfortunately.
