I had used it extensively the day before, but I made absolutely sure that the fan's opening wasn't blocked, and judging by how loud it is, I don't think it should have overheated.

To be honest with you, I have never seen or encountered a DC issue like yours. I would go with the guy above -- maybe open it up make sure its all clean and no connectors are loose

I opened it up and tried searching for any dust (previous user must have taken care of it, didn't see any) and holding down the switch that lets it know if the disc tray is shut or not- no luck with either. I'm thinking of seeing if I can get a refund :/
