Let's change that "were" to ARE, the good days. They're not going anywhere. ;)

That's my outlook on it. I still enjoy a lot of modern games, I think there's been some good new IP's over the years I enjoy, Assassin's Creed (after the first one, yucky), Mass Effect, and... uh... yeah, just to name a few. But there's still probably hundreds if not thousands of old games that I haven't even touched. I haven't even completely dove into the Saturn library or the PCE which will both really happen someday I'm sure. I barely got around to the Dreamcast as well, which was part of the better later era back then too. So I rant about new games like most of us here off and on, but in the end I KNOW there are still hundreds of great older games I have to play, and that's an awesome feeling.

I must be a Retro Gamer! I just opened my present, my daughter bought me a Pocket Simon to match the big original one.

In honesty I enjoy all the consoles on my signature list. The PS3, 360 and PSP I have yet to dive into though, they are the son's systems. Lately the gamecube and Wii have been taking all the playtime. The strangest thing is the Metroid M has got me hooked with the roots of NES gamepad style of action. An old gamer at heart I guess. :D

I'm not like Noise, with an exact cutoff point for IPs I enjoy, but I have noticed that the farther away from the 5th gen I look, the new IPs I really like are fewer and farther between. The vast majority of series I love debuted no later than 2002, and there's only been two new IPs I care about this gen: inFamous and Uncharted. It's not really a problem, though. Old games are almost always cheaper than new ones, and there's a huge selection to choose from.

It means intellectual property, pretty much another way to say series.

I love new and old games. I just love games. I have trouble understanding people not enjoying newer games, but, at the same time I don't understand those that dismiss older games either.

Good games are good games and I'm going to play them dammit.

I just love and appreciate video games & computer technology, period!

It doesn't matter what year or system it came out on, what the graphics or sound quality is like... as long as it has fun or interesting gameplay combined with decent controls then I will enjoy it.
