Re: Anyone else tired of stupid game titles?

To be fair, MK only stopped numbering games when it stopped being in arcades. Hardly an excuse I know but yeah.Inazuma wrote:This shit pisses me off too. Just stick to simple names and numbers. For example, it should be:
Mortal Kombat
Mortal Kombat 2
Mortal Kombat 3
etc.
If you are ashamed by how high the numbers may get, change the title to something different and start from 1 again.
Funny you bring up MK since the official titles for 2 and 3 are "Mortal Kombat II" and "Mortal Kombat 3" respectively. They switched from roman numerals to arabic ones! Also, no roman numerals ever. Sometimes you can't tell if they are numbers or letters. Why make it confusing like that, when we already have a perfectly good number system already?

Same happened in Megaman, but it was a necessity due to there being a "Megaman X" completely unrelated to Megaman 10.

The original Rockman games were always arabic numerals though. They pretty much just shifted the title numbers to what they were supposed to be.GameMasterGuy wrote:Same happened in Megaman, but it was a necessity due to there being a "Megaman X" completely unrelated to Megaman 10.
MK on the other hand I'm sure only switched because the arabic "3" logo thingy looked so damn cool.
Re: Anyone else tired of stupid game titles?
Something that peeves me a bit is super ridiculous Japanese game titles that have like 10 kanji in them. It's completely unnecessary and makes things very confusing. I imagine looking through used game stores in Japan is enough of a bitch, game titles like Mamoru-kun wa Norowarete Shimatta Meikai Katsugeki Wide-Han and Onore no Shinzuru Michi wo Yuke are just too much.

Holy shit this is actually real. I googled it thinking you were just bullshitting. And they say Street Fighter's bad with needlessly convoluted titles!brunoafh wrote:Mamoru-kun wa Norowarete Shimatta Meikai Katsugeki Wide-Han

Wonder Boy in Monster Land
Wonder Boy III: The Dragon's Trap
Wonder Boy III: Monster Lair
Wonder Boy V Monster World III (aka Wonder Boy in Monster World)
Monster World IV
I think Wonder Boy is the most confusing.
