Sega developed Dreamcast games published by other companies
Re: Sega developed Dreamcast games published by other compan
If I recall, Daytona USA was published by Hasbro due to them having the Daytona license. Why someone like that would have a license for Daytona is beyond me, but they did. I'm not sure if Hasbro released any other games ever for any console.
Also, this wasn't limited to just the Dreamcast. All Activision-released games on the Master System were programmed by Sega themselves. Some Sega-developed Genesis games like Arrow Flash were released in the US by Renovation. For the Saturn there was that Working Designs game... the last game to be released in the US (RPG). I cant remember the name even though I own it. Developed by Sega. Probably others, too.

Hasbro released tons of video games, although a good chunk of them board games, but also Roller Coaster Tycoon and Jeopardy. A couple were actually top notch - Ultimate Risk (1996, PC) is still one of my favorite conversions of the board game.

Good eye! I *have* Daytona USA too, and that's another one to add to my list (will edit the original post on that) -- another Sega-developed anomaly!Redifer wrote:If I recall, Daytona USA was published by Hasbro due to them having the Daytona license. The opening logos and the credits have a whole MESS of developers on that. Sega, Amusement Vision (division of Sega), Genki, and Wave Master.CD AGES wrote:Daytona USA on DC was Developed by Genki, no?

I believe Amusement Vision did the bulk of the work. It seems like them. Genki's games are usually slower and crappier. Maybe they just did design work on the new tracks. Wavemaster (also a division of Sega who usually work with Amusement Vision) did the music.

Crappy!? Genki made a reputation for themselves during those times for their expertise in the Racing Genre. They even had an internal division (GRP) specifically for racing title development!

I never liked either of the Tokyo Extreme Racers and the DC version of Virtua Fighter 3 was way worse than it should have been. The reputation they made was "mediocre".CD AGES wrote:Crappy!? That's the one.Magic Knight Rayearth.
