If you can see the future while remembering the past, you may just have control of the present.

Re: buying PS2
I agree. Back when I only had a slim to play PS1 games, I was bummed about Puzzle Fighter. Until it occurred to me that the problem may only be with the US version. Sure enough, I imported the JPN version (which is perfectly playable without knowing Japanese) and it worked just fine.
Re: buying PS2
I say go with a fatty.
For the fact that it has an HD port. Which combined with a MCboot memory card and Open PS2 Loader you can load games directly off your internal hard drive.
...and I think the fat ones look cooler

Agreed. The fat PS2 + network adaptor + hdd + FreeMC Boot setup is just about perfect. Why mess with discs if you don't have to?LentFilms wrote:I say go with a fatty.

Luckily I don't see my model listed there. Though apparently Driver 2 doesn't work well on any model. I'm a little upset about that.noiseredux wrote:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Pl ... yStation_2

I think I'm going to start calling my PS2 "Chubby" from now on

Sorry for my dumbness but are there specific models for some of these features or are they all add-ons?Hatta wrote:Agreed. The fat PS2 + network adaptor + hdd + FreeMC Boot setup is just about perfect. Why mess with discs if you don't have to?LentFilms wrote:I say go with a fatty.

There all add-ons that only really work on a fat PS2.Dude wrote: Sorry for my dumbness but are there specific models for some of these features or are they all add-ons?
A fate PS2 has a Hard Drive port in the back of it which requires a network adaptor to be plugged up inorder for it to be used.
(these can be sort of pricey online but if you’re lucky enough to find it in a GameStop you can get it for $15)
There’s a softmod you can install onto a PS2’s memory card called Free MCboot that allows for your ps2 to run unsigned code (aka homebrew apps). There’s an app called Open PS2 Loader that allows for you to install your games onto your internal hard drive and play them directly off it. Eliminating the need to constantly swap disks, improves load times and preserves your PS2's laser.
It's PS2 gaming at its finest

Re: buying PS2
I just got a slim PS2 from game stop (I know, I know) but it came with a free 1 year warranty, not gonna get that from ebay or a pawn shop. For $50 I think it was a good deal.
They have escaped into the mansion where they thought it was safe, yet.
