yep, as I guy who has largely ignored music videos in the past oh... half-decade anyway, "Yonkers" was mind-blowing. I watched it over and over again. Although probably my most-viewed OF clip has been Tyler and Hodgy performing "Sandwitches" with The Roots on the Carson Daily show. That performance was just insane. Insane. Of course those two songs, which were released before Goblin made me think this was going to be serious Album Of The Year potentially, but ultimately those ended up being my two favorite songs on the album, with little else even coming close to that level. Oh well.

As far as MF Doom, you need to get Operation Doomsday, Madvillain's MADVILLAINY, King Geedorah's TAKE ME TO YOUR LEADER and Viktor Vaughn's VAUDEVILLE VILLAIN. By that point, you will likely be obsessed and spend a lot of time hunting down rare records by all his other various pseudonyms.

Don't worry, I'll guide you when the time comes.

The Tribe doc is supposed to be amazing. I can't wait to see it. I'll keep you posted.

i don't get mf doom. but to each their own i guess. i stumbled across a song he did with non phixion. not their best lyrically but the beat was the shit.

checked some more of his stuff and i was like
when it comes to stuff like 'doom, deltron 3030 (del the funcky homosapian) is the goods.

'stuff like doom'? Del is very different than DOOM. First off, MF Doom is a producer as well. It's a lot of lo-fi stuff. That's a big part of his charm. Though he doesn't produce a lot of his side-projects. He has instrumental albums under the name Metal Fingers (Doom).

That Non-Phixion track is so-so, but not really representative of MF Doom. Check out "I Hear Voices," "Hoe Cakez" and "Dead Bent" for a better idea.

As far as Del goes... Del is great. Absolutely. And Deltron 3030 is amazing. Pairing him with Dan The Automator was brillaint -- and of course was the sketch for what became Gorillaz first record, as Damon Albarn guested on 3030. That Deltron record is definitely a must-own.

what i heard wasn't far off. maybe the word i'm looking for is alternitive hip hop, i dunno. i have to be in the mood for the majority of it. my fav del albums were his first 2 which is nothing like what he does now. i'll have to check out what you listed.

Speaking of music videos, what do people watch these days? Is there a channel similar to the early years of MTV where they would rotate through all kinds of videos instead of being a 24x7 reality TV channel or just playing the top 20 hits?
