You are an angry young man, aren't you? What's with all the rage? I have paid for Live and absolutely do NOT see the value. I guess that makes me dumb and cheap.
I am 34
I don't see how there is any anger let alone rage in my post? Yes I think if have tried live and you don't see the value in it then I think you are dumb and or cheap. That's just my opinion it doesn't mean I am right. I personally think it is worth the money even if you use it for the one reason I mentioned in earlier. I guess maybe not if you flipping burgers for a living but $50 a year for a service I use on a regular basis is completely worth it for me.

Yes I am 34. Do you find something wrong with that or think I am going to get all worked up because you made a comment about it? Judging by your replies here and the BF3 post I am guessing you are 15 max. I am not looking to argue with anyone on the internet. You need to remember what you are reading are peoples opinions and their really isn't a good reason to get upset over it.

It strikes me as close-mided to claim that anyone who can't see the value in Live must be either dumb or cheap. I tend to associate sweeping, unfounded generalizations with close-mindedness and self-righteousness...traits that are usually accompanied with anger.

No, I am just a few years younger than you. I was surprised because when adults make their opinions known they are usually able to support them without name-calling and generalizing.

This pretty much sums up my thoughts on the 360.

Assuming you own a US console, have you looked into:

Mushihimesama Futari
Espgaluda II
Muchi Muchi Pork/Pink Sweets
Eschatos

And local games Deathsmiles and Raiden Fighters Aces?

dsheinem you are correct I could much better get my point across without calling people dumb but I do stand by the cheap comment. :P

I have just never heard a convincing point against why xbox live isn't worth the price. If you don't talk to any friends online then sure maybe it's not the greatest value but I still think the quality of the service outweighs the cost. I can justify the price in my head just by getting all the demos and indie games. Also if you shop around you can find a deal on a 12 month card. I don't think I have ever paid over $30 for one.

Either way I like my 360 just as much as my PS3. They both serve their purpose and I would not like it if I had to choose one over the other.

Steam. Valve is smaller than Microsoft and has cross game chat and friends lists and joining people's games in progress all for the low price of free. By paying for Live you send the message that online play should cost money. That works for WoW and other MMOs because Blizzard owns the servers you play on and they do continuous development equal to an expansion pack in size. Doesn't make sense for a peer-to-peer service, or a service where a company you AREN'T paying money to is running dedicated servers (like Atlus hosting the Demon's Souls servers).

That is a good argument but what if your not a pc gamer? People will pay for convenience.

Personally I would rather play on a console then a pc just for the simple fact that I don't like messing around with computers. I like that I just buy a game and play it.

I would be upset I had to update my computer just to play the newest game out considering I don't know what the hell I am doing. I would be at the mercy of where ever I took my computer to be upgraded. To me xbox live seems like a small price to pay for such a hassle free service.

Yes, all those disreputable back-alley computer upgrade technicians. These days what separates consoles from PCs in terms of convenience is that PCs still have knobs to turn for graphical quality. Consoles have installs and patches, so that argument about PC gaming being hard goes out. And the auto-detect on modern PC games is good enough for the average user; only someone running a top of the line or a minimum reqs PC would need to play with them.

And you're still missing the point about Live. With Live you're paying for a peer-to-peer matching service. Something Gamespy was doing for free 20 years ago. I haven't seen a scam this bad since bottled water.

So you're not supposed to have to strip down to your underwear when you take your computer in to get fixed? :(
