Is that where you invent democracy, kick out the Persians, and then get overrun by the Macedonians?

I've wished for economic games myself. Al the games I can find that are any good that involve economics are not exclusively focused on them. Civilization, SimCity, etc. It's an untapped market IMO.

Macedonians were Greeks, it's just that they weren't city states like the rest of them, but a kingdom.

And no, it's the one where you raise taxes and yet you manage to get even less people to pay them that way

Simcity isn't exclusively based on economics? Ah, you mean it has engineering and building and the like, don't you?

Capitalism 2, I think it is from 2001 or 2002. The game should work on Win7, but It has a fix 640*480 resolution which is painful. The graphics are OK otherwise.

The game itself is superb though. The most accurate economy simulation. It is full of content, you can run your company in several industries and several cities. You have to use RnD and Marketing to beat your opponents. There is even a small stock market built in where you can trade with your companies and your opponents stock. You can buy them out if you want.

But beware! On higher difficulties you just won't have a chance! :)

Oh, Capitalism 2 is great! But I don't recall it being difficult at all, farms and derivate industries were cheap and generated a lot of income to keep the ball rolling. Perhaps I played it on easy or something?

This isn't really my genre, but I know a lot of the fans of this genre really like the Patrician series.
