Well that was silly thing for him to do.Croooow! wrote:Growing up my brother tried blowing into our NES while he was chewing gum. It was a couple of months before we got a new NES.
Those marketing people were smart, you spent all that money on their game for a cheap t-shirt.bmoc wrote:I spent about $100 for a "free t-shirt" by beating Gauntlet Legends in an arcade. As kids, my brothers and I would often pool money to buy games. One particular evening, not too long after moving to Japan, we were in the base exchange looking at games. I had a fair bit of money myself (for the time), and was leaning towards buying a game just for me...but instead, wound up talked into splitting the cost of that classic gem Batman Forever on the SNES.
The game I didn't buy? Chrono Trigger.
Still kick myself for that one.

When replacing my NES's 72 pin connector, I accidentally reversed my controller ports. I also don't remember how but about 10 years ago I lost several PS1 games including Legend of the Dragoon black label. It's long gone now.

Ahhh yes. I miss nailing killer, tax free deals at the PX. When I was stationed in Germany the electronics component of the exchange was called the "PowerZone" Occasionally they had these appreciation day type promos. I remember snagging loads of Cube, PS2, and GBA games they would bundle together. I recall buying GBA new releases b1g1. *sigh*isiolia wrote:As kids, my brothers and I would often pool money to buy games. I've never sold a video game, but when I was 19 I sold about 120 CDs to a music store. Made about $120. Stupid ass decision. Not only do I miss those albums for the music, but many have gone out of print and are now worth $20-$30 each! So dumb.Nintendork666 wrote: 2. A short while after the Wii came out, I hit my one and only "I've grown out of gaming - why would I put so much effort towards goals that aren't even real?" fad. Sold my original Wii for top-dollar, and the summer after, took my Gamecube/DS collections to a friend's garage sale and sold most of my titles for less than $5 a pop. Out of all my stupid purging decisions, this is the one that still haunts me, as I STILL haven't yet repurchased everything that I sold so cheaply that day.

I'm very organized with my collection but for the life of me cannot find original cases and instructions to my PS1 games. I took the discs and put them in a holder (traveling to college back and forth) but cannot find the other pieces, even combing through tons of CD cases years later. Included in there was an original black label Symphony of the Night. I still have the disc to remind me of that loss.

That remindas me of years ago when I had the choice between buying animaniacs and batman forever on SNES. Still can't believe I spent a tenner on thast game but I didn't know better.isiolia wrote:As kids, my brothers and I would often pool money to buy games. When I was a young teenager I traded some of my PS1 games for several packs of cigarettes some kid stole (I'm assuming) from his parents.
