Newly aquired DC light gun not working
Re: Newly aquired DC light gun not working
Thanks for all the input guys, First I opened up the gun its self and everything looks ok, then I opened the plug and compared it to a dead official DC controller, and there are some differences (a brown ground wire that the DC plug does not have) but no broken wires. I then cleaned the inside plug as suggested and while the q-tip came out black, it didnt make the gun work

The broken wires if any, could be inside the insulation at the Lightgun base or by the connector. An OHM meter would confirm, but you will probably have to disconnect the wires from the PCB for an accurate read.jay_red wrote:Thanks for all the input guys, First I opened up the gun its self and everything looks ok, then I opened the plug and compared it to a dead official DC controller, and there are some differences (a brown ground wire that the DC plug does not have) but no broken wires. Did you try a different port without and memory or vibration pack?

Keep cleaning with new ones until it comes out clean.jay_red wrote:Thanks for all the input guys, First I opened up the gun its self and everything looks ok, then I opened the plug and compared it to a dead official DC controller, and there are some differences (a brown ground wire that the DC plug does not have) but no broken wires. I'm sorry we couldn't be of more help to your dilema. I certainly hope you manage to get it working even if it is a longshot. If you ever decide to buy another Light gun for the DC, always go for the Madcatz model as it's the best most reliable gun peripheral on the system (it's even sega approved), while Interact's Starfire gun is a decent alternative. I wasn't even aware that Pelican (and a few others) made guns for the DC until quite recently.
