Guess its Dodonpachi for me.

@ Ryan: The saturn version is the best port hands down, so I'd go for that.

I tried to push for Gunbird 2, but we tried to go with the games that the most people seemed to want as our options.

Ah, makes sense. I still think these are good choices. DDP kinda re-defined the genre (If we ignore Garegga for a moment) and Ikaruga gained immense popularity at a time when the genre wa dead to mainstream. Probably the 2 most discussed shmups.

I voted for DoDonPachi, I didn't like Ikaruga much.

DDP. Not a big Ikaruga fan, but I have it on XBLA and can play a burned DC copy well. Sold my retail disc recently.

I'd rather play Do-Don-Pachi, but if it wins, I'll have to buy an AR and import it.

right. I'd like to play DoDonPachi because I've only played it for a few minutes on MAME, but I actually own Ikaruga...

DDP is much more accessible than Ikaruga for a number of reasons:

Cost - free via MAME, $7 on PSN. Ikaruga is $10 on XBLA and not working on MAME last I knew.

Difficulty - DDP is also easier and more straightforward (while still presenting a challenge). Ikaruga's mechanic is cool, but more punishing. It requires you to earn credits over hours to see the end by credit feeding. DDP allows you to credit feed.

DDP is also more influential and, arguably, more important in shmup history
