Shenmue.

Both are very different games. Shenmue's attention to detail (particularly in its day) drew me in unlike any other game. The Shenmue story is also more intimate while Yakuza can only be described as visceral. So in stark terms, Yakuza will appeal more for the action. So many of the intangibles is what makes Shenmue great, but also what makes it commercially less viable.
