Now THAT'S an idea for a charity.

But seriously though, some friendly advice. Given that the 2011 Charity Auction raised like 1K this year, raising 2K entirely through Racketboy contributions might be a bridge too far, if not a total pipe-dream. I'd therefore suggest a few things:

1) Follow up on providing the information that Luke requested. If you do that, you'll likely get your first contribution from Luke, and also possibly from others who want to know about the organization's overhead. It's a start.

The first $375 is not tax deductible, however, 100% of donations will still go straight to buying supplies for building schools regardless of it being part of the first $375 or after.

2) Contribute a bit of your own cash towards your personal Honduras account. Firstly, it'll make people see that you're personally and financially committed to your own cause. Secondly, people also like to see that their contributions will make a difference, so contributing their own hard-earned money is easier to do when there's only say $200 left to go as opposed to $2000 left to go.

Although my personal fundraising page is at $0.00, during the spring semester members doesn't fundraise for their individual trip. We fundraise as a whole in order to buy supplies to build the schools. That is why I posted the whole chapter's fundraising page and my page as a way that members can contribute to the whole chapter's goal. The goal of $2000 is definitely unrealistic from just this community but I will be fundraising throughout the semester with hopes of reaching my goal.

3) Possibly augment your fund-raising with an auction of some of your possessions along with stuff that other people contribute. People love buying stuff, and this opens up the possibility of non-cash contributions.

I will look into this. I think a lot of the members have old retro games they're willing to donate into an auction.

4) Cross-post this on other forums, so hopefully a little bit here and a little bit there will add up.

Will do once I start fundraising and get a few dollars in my account.

Best of luck!
Thanks for the advice!

Hey, can't get more efficient than that. Zero overhead. I see no reason why a "small time philanthropist" like Luke should decline to contribute in that case, since all of the money contributed is furthering the cause.

Have you followed up with him via PM? He might not necessarily be keeping up with this thread.
