all i did was change the tip connector and move the pins where they needed to be. i'll get a link when i get home.CRTGAMER wrote:Nice! I am guessing that both the NES controller PCB and parts of the SNES PCB for the buttons contacts are inside? Or did you use the SNES controller board and made it work with the NES? Pics of the inside and maybe a guide?
doing that would require soldering in resistors, im not good at that.BoringSupreez wrote:Nothing, I would imagine. Would have been more useful as a Genesis controller, as AppleQueso said.

@ vlame - According to the link the wires are the same colors. Is that true on your mod?

vlame: which buttons are the A and B buttons...A and B or perhaps as my default config on my comp Y and B?

As for the extra SNES buttons you could jumper them inside the controller to act as secondary NES A and B buttons. Triggers as your A and B buttons!

I used this to do it. only Yellow and Red needed to be switched, oddly my NES had brown not green. any idea on how to jumper them?

Re: Custom controller
This would be a really interesting mod with one of the NES four button turbo controllers. It's still pretty cool as is, if only because the SNES controller is a lot more comfortable than the NES controller with it's sharp edges. How well does it work?
Re: Custom controller
You have to remember this is a perfectly otherwise intact SNES pad all i did was change the plug to NES. so i suppose if there was a way to jump it so 3 buttons correspond to A and B each then yea it would be better than this currently "glorified" novelty NES pad. it can do no more than what a NES pad can do (d-pad, st/sel and 2 action buttons) currently. Haven't tested it.Yancakes wrote:This would be a really interesting mod with one of the NES four button turbo controllers. EDIT: Since I have not tested it I need to cross check the wiring with a SNES controller and make sure no wires have crossed over. if anyone can open a SNES pad and test the wires with a multi-meter that would really help, I have super famicom pads which I can double check with too but from my own experiences SFC pads act wonky on a SNES, no idea why.

Just follow the inactive button traces and cut each side to isolate from the rest of the PCB circuit. Then solder each side of the now dead button over to one of the active NES A or B button traces. You could have three buttons for A and the other 3 buttons for B. Activating the triggers are worth doing the mod.
