The Wonder Years has been added to Netflix instant streaming
Re: The Wonder Years has been added to Netflix instant streaming
Ah, that's a huge let down. After seeing this thread, I was like, "Yeah, maybe I'll watch some of that." But after hearing about the music change, I probably wont.

I hear ya. The Wonder Years soundtrack had a lot to do with the show. They even changed the opener (although the pilot's music is still in tact).Ziggy587 wrote:Ah, that's a huge let down. if they went thru all the trouble of changing the music, then I'd bet a DVD release is imminent.

Let's hope it has an option for the original music. Music has a ton to do with our emotions while watching something and I could see how changing it could easily changing the mood of scenes or even whole episodes.noiseredux wrote:if they went thru all the trouble of changing the music, then I'd bet a DVD release is imminent.
I also hope there's extra features which feature Ben Stein (not sure if spelled correctly).

it won't. Music licensing is what's held it up all this time. Same thing happend with The State. When it finally came to DVD it was with completely different newly recorded music rather than licensed tracks. Unfortunately, back before DVD's existed, nobody would have known to license the tracks for future physical sales. Even if Wonder Years could obtain new licenses for all the music, it woulndn't make financial sense to them.Czernobog wrote: Let's hope it has an option for the original music.

Ah, that makes sense, but it's saddening. Kinda makes it a bitch to enjoy quite a bit of media in its original form.noiseredux wrote:it won't. Music licensing is what's held it up all this time. Anyone else have a Winnie Cooper in their life? Certainly others here have a story about a nice but non-pretty chick who in under a year turns into a knock out by 7th grade. This is for you Erin Riddle, Kacy Huntley, and Michelle Parkins.

I would say so, but then I moved out of town and had to remake friends in jr. high and same thing with high school. Lost touch with my Winnie Cooper's.

I would also add My So Called Life to the list (90's), which was inexplicably cancelled after its first year just like Freaks & Geeks.noiseredux wrote:00's - Freaks And Geeks (aka, best show ever)EllertMichael wrote:I was thinking about the definitive coming of age decade spanning sitcoms a few weeks ago and I came up with:
50's - Happy Days
60's - The Wonder Years
70's - That 70's Show
80's - ??? (Punky Brewster?)
90's - Boy Meets World
Got any better ones?

And now, because of this, noiseredux has tape all over his face.noiseredux wrote:Same thing happend with The State. When it finally came to DVD it was with completely different newly recorded music rather than licensed tracks.Czernobog wrote: Let's hope it has an option for the original music.
