McDonald's does have flexible hours so I don't see why not.

It's unfortunate that so many of our talented youth are forced to work in demeaning jobs because our financial leaders had the gall to screw over the American people.

Forced into demeaning jobs? Are today's precious youth too special for real work? Not everyone can streamline education and opportunity into a skilled career without ever taking a "real" job, burger's won't flip themselves. Someone with true talent and motivation will get invaluable real world experience from a "demeaning" job at McDonalds and use it to better their lot in life, rather than "feel" entitled to a higher wage because they "deserve" it.

LOL. Ah, such idealism. I remember when I was young enough to think it worked like that. ;)

Youth no longer have the time or freedom to devote themselves to esoteric potential talents. Instead they get all but forcibly tied down by courts and police officers to attend an education system that's become overpopulated and underfunded.

Heck skills essential for millions of modern adult lives are barely even given attention now. I sure never saw things like balancing a budget, basic vehicle driving/maintenance, or cleaning one's home (to help avoid spread of illness/etc) for crying out loud, be considered even jokingly to place among the required curriculum of regular classes.

I have a shitty job and I'm cool with that.

This. Look at how much coverage the News Corp/Rupert Murdoch scandal got on Fox News. This protest hits way too close to home-- if not for the parent companies, then for their advertisers, which are just as important if not more so.

Sure, but there are still ways to get more coverage and attention. I just think that this is a relatively small group of protestors doing nothing more than standing in traffic and holding signs that got arrested for being a safety hazard to drivers in the area. Big whoop. They don't need to loot and burn, but they should have a more clearly defined message delivered through more radical (and TV-coverage grabbing) means.

Also, I'm sorry but why are they risking being arrested? Unless they act violently and cause property damage, why should they be arrested? Are we in 1984 again?

I agree. This is a pretty weak excuse for a protest. I read that they were holding a vote to determine what the protest should be about. That's pretty backwards. With some planning, a strong message, and some guerilla marketing on line they could have done a lot better. I still donated to their food fund though. Even as poorly put together as this is, it's more worthy of support than ANYTHING offered by the establishment.

Yes. Yes we are. The only reason we haven't seen this turn into street violence yet is because they caught the NYPD mostly unprepared. It takes a while to organize agent provocateurs. The way this usually works is that peaceful activists occupy part of the city. The police then send out masked agents to throw bricks at windows. This gives the police cause to treat an otherwise peaceful protest as a riot. Then the peaceful protestors get arrested for participating in a riot.

Unless of course, the protest is Tea Party affiliated. In which case the powers that be organize, fund, and air the protest on their media networks. Because dissent is only patriotic when it's from the right wing.

Exactly. They're going about this the wrong way. On the other hand, throwing banana creme pies into the faces of some Wall Street fat cats would be hilarious. That shit would go viral, guaranteed.
