Preorders are a trade off. Get the bonus stuff or wait six months for the new game to drop in price. Its just a matter of making the call if a preorder extra is worth the money up front. A soundtrack is a good incentive, an exclusive weapon extra might not be. Especially if the sixty dollar game goes for twenty bucks new later on. Even worse as in DVD movies and some Greatest Hits games, the extras not included in the initial release. Wii Conduit comes to mind, the Special Edition came out later.

I had to preorder the new Harvest Moon game just for the stupid alpaca. Then I had an awkward conversation with the cashier about why I'd want a fucking alpaca.

I might have to preorder Skyward Sword Special Edition. It's tempting me.

I never pre-order, I always read reviews before I buy.

I'm pretty sure the only game I've ever preordered was Wind Waker just so i could get the Ocarina of Time/Master Quest bonus disc.

And now I want that alpaca.

Preordered almost every new game I bought when I was a kid. There were a crapton of game stores around my place so I didn't really need to, but I did anyways. Don't do that nowadays because I don't buy that many games at launch. Did it for the new Pokemon game because it came out on a Sunday and so many places are closed Sunday here in Utah. If they didn't get enough (however unlikely) then I would have been pretty screwed.

I'll probably preorder the Skyward Sword bundle for that soundtrack or w/e it is since I'll be getting the game anywyas. If they release Xenoblade over here I'll probably preorder that. Solatarobo I'll be buying at full price for my birthday in December, but I don't see myself preodering it for that soundtrack sampler. If they have an alt box then maybe.

So worth it. I hadn't ever played the game before that. Back in the N64 days my mom was really strict about violence and wouldn't let me get it because Link had a sword and "just ran around killing things."

CRT makes really good point as always. A game can come out to bad reviews and take a dive price wise. Also if you preorder for a bonus that can become a moot point also when it turns out that its a shitty item.

I guess its about knowing when something is worth it and when its not. And that is really all about judgement in the long run.

I brought this up in the team ICO thread but felt it should go here too.

I will preorder a game from time to time when I have some cash burning a hole in my pocket and have a feeling that when said game comes out I will be broke. Man I swear it's the greatest feeling in the world to be flat broke but still have the newest game
