I have Karous on the Wii game Ultimate Shooting Collection, and I thought it was pretty good. I'd burn it and give it a go and see what you think.

This is actually quickly becoming one of my favorites. Short but sweet levels, great characters and bosses, and the game is freakin tough. Also good to note the ability to play as Morrigan (Only available in the DC port), and access to a nice debug mode\DIP can be had by holding start when you boot your game.

This gives access to level select, invincibility, bomb stock, and even the ability to switch the voices to japanese! Not to mention, its got TATE :D

There are quite a few I have yet to play but I can say that I really didn't care for Karous.

Also ignoring the obvious choice of Ikaruga, I really liked Psyvariar 2 alot. It's amazing if you really love bullethells. Bangai-O is also a must. And I've got Last Hope: Pink Bullets and it's extremely fun :D I can't wait for Sturmwind.

Shmup: Border Down, followed by Under Defeat / Trizeal - cant decide.
Shmup that we all can afford: Gunbird 2.
Answer to this question in 3 months: Sturmwind (I hope).
Best Shooter: Cannon Spike.
Best Rail Shooter: REZ.
Worst Rail Shooter: Rainbow Cotton (I wanted to love this game so many times, but i'm sorry. It sucks).
Most Overpriced Shmup for play value: Chaos Field...by a mile. Radirgy and Karous are very good games, but overpriced.

Yes, the agetec stick is legit, simple yet elegant and you can absolutely beat the hell out of it.

What I want to know is has anyone played Baldr Force EXE? I am thinking of buying it, but the amount of text is concerning me - does anyone have it and can they confirm how thick the text is throughout? It appears to be fairly constant in the youtube vids.

I've never heard of Baldr Force EXE before, but it looks pretty dang sweet! Really hope its english-friendly.

I'm surprised to see Trizeal so high on your list mjmjr25, it always gets put down so often. I'm thinking about investing in a copy now. Whats its pros? It looks to be running pretty smoothly, and that ship/weapon change is pretty sweet too

Baldr Force looks a bit like a mecha bangai-o / cannon spike hybrid. I think I would absolutely love it if the text is not present once you get rolling.

Trizeal - not sure why it gets moderate reviews, or even dislikes sometimes. Maybe its pricepoint, don't know.

I love the charging and maxing out of each weapon - I like that it is beatable and I prefer my games to get progressively harder, not epic hard to start, or not very easy first level and then boom - just unplayable, this has an excellent flow to it. Some games have a bullet-hell feel and even if you figure the patterns, I personally never feel like i'm beating a game - just surviving it (Esp Rade comes to mind) I haven't 1cc'd Trizeal yet, but now that i'm talking about it, I may give that a go and I feel like I could possibly do that.
