As a small scale, slightly novice collector, finding a good place to sell is tough.

It takes a bit of time to establish a solid rating on ebay. Craigslist is full of lowballers. And it forum B/S/T threads are contingent on your online presence.

So I sympathize with you. I'm thinking about just renting a table at Cleveland's next retrogaming festival. That way there is no online anxiety over whether or not I'm a con-artist. It's like 15 bucks. Which beats ebay fees.

Well some of us have been trading here for years, and a lot of us talk on a daily basis almost. But there's still newer sellers. You gotta start some where. Just don't go for your highest priced games at first. Sell some common games, in the $5-15 range. I buy here on RB from newer/low post members. I figure if they try and scam me on $5, no big loss, and I can always file a claim with PayPal. After you get your first few feedbacks for selling here, you'll be able to sell easier, and then your feedback will grow.

Buying a few things might help you build a bit of a reputation. Using Paypal with insurance/security/whatever it is called, instead of accepting payment as a "gift", at least for the first few things you sell, would also help our your case a bit.

Actually this has become a major concern here, with folks finding ways to skip around rules we set up for a reason, such as mentioning that they have things to offer but not saying so in the BST forum.

We hope Xeoloux that you don't feel we're not interested in your Nintendo 64 collection; we are. But we've had plenty of scammers and deadbeats attempt to rip off members here too. There are stories of guys with such names as Kholdstare (who made some serious mistakes) and Japhei (who is a well-known Internet scam artist) attempting to sell stuff on our website. And it's a double-edged sword. You have to be careful of buyers too. I've sold to two people on this site. One was an established member who had excellent communication, worked well with me, and gave me credit for an excellent transaction. The second was a non-poster who generally had poor communication and has never again logged in to the site, so despite the work I put in to it, my BST score is lower than it should be because he never came back to say anything.

I have a suggestion. If you're really interested in selling your collection (and I believe you are), keep posting. If you have pictures of your collection (including what you are selling), put them up in the Game Rooms forum and show them off. A) It'll definitely help to get people to recognize you. B) It'll show off what you've got. And when you do post in the BST thread, you can link your Game Rooms thread to save the hassle of posting pictures.
