Yeah, given my backlog that is still about $10-$20 too much. Same with El Shaddai, which looks amazing. I'll be grabbing it when it is closer to $30.noiseredux wrote:it was when I did a BIN search on ebay. Re: Shadows of the Damned
I hear ya. Right now I feel like $40 is my price-point for PS3 games. With a couple of small exceptions. El Shaddai does look great, but same thing. I need it to be cheaper and just recently got several new games to get through.dsheinem wrote: Yeah, given my backlog that is still about $10-$20 too much. Same with El Shaddai, which looks amazing. I actually found myself liking it a lot less the farther I got into it. Will be interesting to see your thoughts on it. My enthusiasm for it is completely gonenoiseredux wrote:picked it up last week. Will have things to say about it soon.

Pretty funny reading that and then your first post in this thread, quite a difference I guess.

Re: Shadows of the Damned
I need to stop posting my thoughts on stuff until I finish the game....or don't finish the game depending as the case may be. Sometimes I can do a complete 180 on my thoughts about a game. Shadows of the Damned starts out strong, but it just gets more and more lame as it goes on unfortunately. It's not nearly as good as RE 4 even though that's clearly the foundation it sets itself on and it just stops surprising you after a while. Oh, here is another penis joke. Oh, here is Paula getting brutally murdered again. Between that, you'll be shooting and killing the same stuff over and over. The funny dialog gets less and less inspired as you get further into the gameXeogred wrote:Pretty funny reading that and then your first post in this thread, quite a difference I guess.
I feel like this game is unfinished. About halfway through the writing gets less inspired and the gameplay gets repetitive. Also, I'm sad to say that the game really gets offensive after a while. The penis jokes start getting so blatant and juvenile, rather than going for cleverness and the way the story treats Paula is reason enough that I'd never let a woman watch me play this game. It's misogynistic and exploitive to an uncomfortable extreme

Re: Shadows of the Damned
The misogyny part is a bit off putting, but if this game is anywhere near as goofy as any other Suda game then I'm thinking it's going to be impossible for me to be offended by it.
Re: Shadows of the Damned
Then again, didn't you end up hating Bayonetta kind of like I did, because it was like ... grade school humor at best? I want to hope this game isn't THAT bad.brunoafh wrote:The misogyny part is a bit off putting, but if this game is anywhere near as goofy as any other Suda game then I'm thinking it's going to be impossible for me to be offended by it.
Either way, whenever I have money again I'm still far more interested to hit up Vanquish first.

No, I think it makes for an excellent commentary about one gamer and his experiences during the Quest to the end, so to speak. It's interesting reading your thoughts.Gamerforlife wrote:I need to stop posting my thoughts on stuff until I finish the game....or don't finish the game depending as the case may be.Xeogred wrote:Pretty funny reading that and then your first post in this thread, quite a difference I guess.
I've not yet picked this one up, mainly because right now money is still an issue. I'd love to give it a whirl due to the comparisons people have been drawing to horror-themed games like Resident Evil 4, but again, price drop. In truth I haven't been playing much these last few weeks beyond Deadly Premonition(which is excellent and well worth checking out for fans of older horror games). But I really want to give this one a shot once I've got the chance. In the mean time, I don't know which game to play next...
Re: Shadows of the Damned
That's a good point, but a lot of my Bayonetta hate comes from the fact that I think that game is absurdly overrated (gameplay wise). But yeah, the stylistic choices made for the game pretty much made it unplayable for me.Xeogred wrote:Then again, didn't you end up hating Bayonetta kind of like I did, because it was like ... grade school humor at best? I haven't played Shadows of the Damned yet but I would say this is a pretty good idea. Vanquish can be had for cheap now and it's such an excellent game. Being that you're a shooter fan this will probably be quite the treat for you. I think Vanquish is right up your alley as a matter of fact.Either way, whenever I have money again I'm still far more interested to hit up Vanquish first.
Better yet, just wait for Max Anarchy.
