Re: It seems as if I'm the only person who didn't like VC
I loved the game because it was so different from other RPGs, the art style was gorgeous, the gameplay was fun and inventive, and the voice work was exceptionally thorough. If its gameplay was just another turn-based RPG, then it would have likely been a forgettable experience, but I admire it for doing something truly different and fun.

Fair enough, too bad you didn't enjoy it. Definitely a unique game so I can understand the disparity between those who enjoyed it and those who didn't.BoringSupreez wrote: I didn't research the game much before I got it. It was an impulse buy, because Gamestop was doing a buy 2 get 1 free sale, and I needed a third game. I had only heard in passing it was supposed to be good, so I picked it up.

I bought it without knowing anything about it other than everybody said it was good, and really enjoyed playing it. It was really an impulse buy, I'm usually not into anime-styled games. I did end up really liking the art style though, it turned out to be a very nice looking game.
The story was just weird though. That was what really held me back from recommending it to people. I liked the upgrade system, and the gameplay itself was REALLY fun, but I couldn't get over the magical anime girl war theme :/ So I agree with you on that point. I think they would have been just fine with a more subtle plot.

My only major issue with the game was the randomness of whether or not your shots would hit their target. That got on my nerves. S ranking some stages really required some hail mary shots and you basically had to keep reloading your game until the shot connected. Plus, there were enemies who could randomly duck your shots. The game sells itself on strategy, yet there is a bit of a luck factor to the game. I remember hating Advance Wars for that very reason. However, I did like Valkyria Chronicles in spite of this
I thought the story was quite charming, though I do recall finding a little plot hole or two. I loved the characters and the the art style. The music was decent. What's great about VC is that it's a pretty polished game and it has really worthwhile DLC. DLC gives you new challenges, more story and new weapons. Nothing feels half assed in VC, which is a rarity in modern games

AHHH I remember that now! You would be aiming right at a tank and it would miss from like ten feet away! That was frustrating.Gamerforlife wrote:My only major issue with the game was the randomness of whether or not your shots would hit their target. That got on my nerves. Yeah, that was really the game's biggest flaw for me. I think I pretty much loved everything else but those missed shots infuriated mewootcube wrote:AHHH I remember that now!
