I don't know then. I've purposely never had a livejournal, myspace, facebook, etc.

Well, livejournal is totally different than the other two, but Google+ is actually closer in conception to a LinkedIn combined with Twitter and Facebook-like elements. The emphasis is on managing your contacts and your control over the information you share with them. Plus there's "hangouts", which are similar to chats, and video conferencing. Certainly it will prove useful for businesses, but its applications already are useful to communities like Racketboy, as this thread shows.
