I haven't heard anything bad about Google checkout or whatever it's called. Although, I haven't heard much about it period.

Ryan, that almost sounds like a phishing email.

It's not, checked where it came from and sure enough going into my paypal it gives me a nice red banner right up towards the top.

So today I get a wonderful email in my inbox:


Hello *blank*:

We're writing to let you know about a change to your PayPal account.

Starting 7/17/2011, money from payments you receive will be placed in a pending balance for up to 21 days. By doing this, we're making sure that there's enough money in your account to cover potential refunds or claims.

Even though you can't access the money right away, please ship orders quickly and communicate with your customers. After 21 days, you can withdraw money from each payment as long as the customer hasn't filed a dispute, chargeback, claim, return, or reversal.

Now keep in mind, that I've never had any disputes, my eBay Feedback is 100%. I ship and pay as promptly as I can. I sent an e-mail to them about this, I basically got a copy-pasted "You agreed to the terms and we can do what we want" reply. Even though I pointed out that there were no grounds for the limitation and asked for explanation.

That said, once my payment comes in I'll be closing my PayPal account.

That is Bull Crap
Multiply the 21 days of cash withholding by all the sellers this happens to. PayPal keeps the money for 21 days to generate bank interest for themselves.

I don't blame you for bailing out
As a buyer this kills me from a potential purchase if too many sellers go the Money Order route or post your Credit Card number. Sad that good sellers get burned by this.

Paypal sucks big time. They attempted to pull similar BS with me and I stopped using them. When I've had to sell something I have used the Ebay approved Money Bookers Service. I have pretty much stopped buying retro games as most sellers only offer Paypal. I will never use that BS service ever again. Also everytime Ebay sends me survey, I let them know what a piece of crap they are for forcing paypal down our gullets.

After several angry phone calls (7 to be exact) they removed further limitation but funds that were put in holds during the limitation are still being held there for the 21 days or positive feedback bs.
