Nope. For those of us in the superior master race of AcidTech users, all is laid bare in those examples.
Oh - and for the reasons Luke alluded to, I have never read a comic in which something "shocked" me, sorry.

Re: What Are the Most Shocking Moments in Comics? SPOILERS
The title of the thread is "The Most Shocking Moments". If you went into this thread thinking there wasn't any spoilers, then I have to question your intelligence. But it doesn't matter, because I changed it.Gamerforlife wrote:Well, it's just my opinion but I've never understood the logic of not having to worry about spoiling things for people just because those things are old.
"Hey buddy, I heard you started watching Lost. However, since it ended like a year ago, I'm going to tell you every character death that happened"
Wait, why are you so pissed at me all of a sudden?"
It's this incredibly nerdy idea to assume that people must have experienced EVERYTHING there was to experience in your favorite entertainment medium so therefore you don't have to worry about spoiling anything for anyone. It's a pet peeve of mine because I've noticed that people do it a lot and it irritates me. I hate when people reference things and just assume that everyone in the room has already read or seen it already. It's polite to just say, "Hey, you guys have all seen such and such movie already right? Because what I'm gonna say is a big spoiler"
I don't see why that's so hard. I think for threads like this it's good to name the comic book you're talking about BEFORE you write the spoiler like I did in my last post, though there's probably a more elegant way of doing it than I did. We can't hide text on this forum can we?
I just feel like no matter what I do around here, someone is uppity and doesn't like that some unspoken rule was broken. I've got crap for posting a thread that was similar to an article written on the front page, as if I'm not allowed to have a different opinion than the article. I've gotten crap for a posting a thread that was already posted...like 5 years ago. And the "Let's Name 100 Games Together" thread birthed a whole thread hating on it. And now I'm getting crap for posting spoilers about stuff that happened years ago that any comic fan already knows about. It just seems like some of you regulars need to loosen up a little. It's not like I'm posting stuff that just happened a few weeks ago, or reposting threads that have been talked to death in the last few months. I do have enough internet edicate to not do those things.
Message boards are supposed to be a place to relax and discuss your favorite stuff with like-minded people, not a place where we should feel like we're walking around on eggshells in fear of offending a regular.

Don't forget that not everyone speaks up. Maybe some unregistered or naive person came across this random comic book thread and wasn't expecting spoilers?BurningDoom wrote:The title of the thread is "The Most Shocking Moments". I tend to stay out of the "Top X of Y" threads because they're tiresome. Dave Letterman's top 10 lists became cliches years ago and then became parodies of themselves where they knew people weren't really paying attention much by #1, so the best ones were usually in the middle. Lots of new members on any forum or with a new blog seem to post these sorts of things. Regulars tend to be tired of them and hopefully they get them out of their system.I just feel like no matter what I do around here, someone is uppity and doesn't like that some unspoken rule was broken. I used to read some comics, though a fair number weren't Marvel or DC. I have Fatal Attractions and knew about Superman and Batman Because of the media circus that popped up around them. The rest I had no clue about. I expected spoilers, but you can't assume that everyone is as well read in comics as you or is an internet veteran. A little courtesy goes a long way.And now I'm getting crap for posting spoilers about stuff that happened years ago that any comic fan already knows about.
I haven't gone into the Top 100 thread where you claim to have been lambasted. Otherwise I haven't particularly noticed anyone giving you crap. *shrug*It just seems like some of you regulars need to loosen up a little. Anyway, back on topic...
I suppose some of the things in the Dark Phoenix saga stood out when I read it as a kid. Maybe I just didn't read enough comics for anything to really shock me though before I more or less stopped. Comics had already started getting bloated with sealed versions and variant covers by the time the Superman and Batman things happened. There was absolutely no way they would really kill off their most popular characters so it was clear it was all a ruse of some sort just to lure people into buying more special editions and crap before undoing it all.

Most of the stuff that happens in the Ultimate Marvel universe is notable, since the majority of characters who die actually STAY dead.

By the way, I appreciate your spoiler warning Gamerforlife. I haven't read Y The Last Man yet, but I plan to down the road.
