I don't think the points expire. They only expire in the sense of counting towards the yearly platinum status.

All of the stuff in the catalog are junk in my opinion. I'll hold on to my points until I see something cool like a new controller.

They sure do:

Why are my Coins listed with an expiration date?
Unredeemed Coins will expire two (2) full Club Nintendo years (July 1 - June 30), plus whatever is left in the current Club Nintendo year, after they are earned. Example: Coins earned in March 2009 would not expire until June 30, 2011.

Listen to irixith, they do expire. It was the most common complaint/concern I ran into when I started looking at Club Nintendo. I'm not surprised, considering the purposes of Club Nintendo seem to be selling more new games and gathering a slew of free marketing research from fans. Still, the more I look at that Game and Watch reproduction, the more I want one. Handheld hardware has been getting a lot more of my attention lately.

EDIT: This was my 666th and it made me think that Nintendo choosing Balls to be their re-released game was no accident. The Game and Watch reproduction is obviously a ploy by Nintendo to capture part of your soul and digitize it into balls to be juggled eternally. Nintendo has seen the power of Ballz 3D on Genesis and has made a deal with the devil to unleash a new form of balls upon the world, the likes of which haven't been unleashed upon the populace for over two decades. Just my two cents.

I know that the Club Nintendo points expire if you fail to register them after a few years, but even if you do register them, they will expire if you don't use them?

In order words, I just registered all my games and I have around 600 points now. Will my 600 points expire, and if so, when?

Go to when the next reward session is (end of June), then two years from there.

I had something like 600 coins expire this year, so it was in my best interest to grab something.

Yeah, unfortunately they do expire after you register them.

2 years from when you registered them, but if I'm understanding this correctly (I've only just started looking into this thing) they round it to the nearest June 30th.

Does Nintendo email you a few weeks before your points expire? That would be very nice if they did.

I've read yes and no from different people, so I'm not entirely sure. I think they may have implemented an automated email for it just recently or something, but I wouldn't count on it since I've read comments from a handful who said they never got a notice.

It's supposed to be automated .. but some get it, some don't.
