it's just a way that you can swap discs on a slim PS2. Just google or youtube search "ps2 tissue tape." It's super super easy to do.

nice - I'll have to try it out. I recently acquired a second PS2 for free off a friend that was moving house, so it'll make a good test subject.

Yeah, I'll just stick with a chipped ps1 then. If you're going to have to open the PS2 anyway, I'd just install a modchip. Tissue/tape or a flip top shell are both hardware mods, so it's still accurate to say that you cannot play PS1 games on a soft-modded PS2.
