Metroid Prime on GC vs Wii

I don't mind the way the Gamecube Metroid versions are controlled. Though not the norm in a sense as most FPS games, its not a bad layout once I got used to it. But I am finding that FPS games with movement control of the Nunchuck and the quickness of a "Lightgun" Remote aiming works well.

Out of curiosity, how much did the Wii Metroid Trilogy set go for when it came out? As a recent Wii owner, I regret not getting this earlier, was it a better price before?

It was the standard $50-60.

The only thing that sounds terrible about it is that you can only supposedly have 3 saves max, so that's basically... one save per game.

Wii is the only way to go for Metroid Prime games. I played it on GC first and did not care for it too much because of the controls. When I played it on the Wii however it became one of my favorite games because the Wii controls perfected it.

If money is no object, go for the Trilogy on the Wii. If you just want to play the games, and want to do so for a fraction of the cost, buy the Gamecube versions.

I say go for both, if possible. There are some art assets and tiny details left out on the wii version that I missed enough to re-buy the gamecube originals.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

Wait What? I have both the Gamecube Metroids and am contemplating on getting the Wii Trilogy. What is lost besides a different method of control?

Best Buy has it used for $29.00, but the site said out of stock for online reserve. Out of curiosity, I went to the local Best Buy, no luck. There is a crap load of Metroid M piled on the shelf, four facings worth or should I say worthless as a 3rd person game. Come on Nintendo release the Trilogy set again!

The only thing I can think of off the top of my head is the little bit of distorted air coming out of the arm cannon when you fire the power beam rapidly in the first two games. It wasn't a dynamically generated resource; it was a static movie since they always knew where your gun was, so it was dropped when you were made to be free following.

The intros that lead into the original menu screens are gone - along with the nifty music.

All of the weapon effects are gone - the power beam doesn't ice over or overheat any more.

There are some weird glitches where Samus doesn't interact with her environment quite correctly - the example coming to mind is Samus in morphball mode, going through water and the water not splashing like it did in the original.

Tiny things but noticeable for the die hard.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

Makes me fee better I have the Gamecube versions. Okay, come on Nintendo release the Trilogy again but now with the fixes.
