Sorry for the long wait. I know you've been dying to hear the epic conclusion to my ffff-up.

I've tried the freezer trick twice. Unfortunately, the trick yielded no results so (eventually) I sent the hard drive to SeaGate. I got a new drive about a week later. I got a GoFlex 1TB drive which you have to plug into an AC outlet.. I'm a bit aggravated, but I didn't lose any real valuable data so I'm not going throw a bitch-fit. As for my interest in cloud storage, I'm currently using Microsoft SkyDrive since you get a shit ton of storage (25GB). None of the important files I want to backup aren't large so I don't have to worry about the 100MB-per-file limit. SDExplorer's a pretty good way to integrate SkyDrive into Windows Explorer.

I'm wondering if someone at SeaGate decided to send me an AC plugin Hard Drive to be a smart ass.

Well glad you weren't completely up the creek and at least have a drive. :)
