Well, that gives each console about 6-7 years as the lead platform for each maker. Looking at history, that's pretty damn good.

I don't think they'd be that soon, I'd guess 2013/2014 myself.

I think we'll hear something about Sony and MS's next-gen plans by the time the Wii U actually launches next year. The systems themselves probably won't hit until 2013, even 2014 - may depend on when exactly the Wii U hits, which may not even be before the holidays. It'd seem remiss for them, from a strategic marketing standpoint, to miss a chance to steal even a little of Nintendo's thunder.

Well, the Dreamcast 2 is coming out 12/12/12, so the PS4 will be coming along about a year later with the ability to play holograms.

I think Sega's plan is to launch the Dreamcast 2 immediately after the Cubs win the World Series.
