Ooooohh man! That reminds me of all my characters in Morrowind. I always got acrobatics up to the max and would jump everywhere. It made for efficient and speedy land travel and scaling mountains was a breeze but I always managed to get stuck on a railing or in between rocks. I'd always lose about 45 minutes to an hour of gameplay.jfe2 wrote:Yeah I got stuck in the bed frame in my house in Fallout 3

This reminds me when I first played ff6 for the first time, which was about a year ago. I was playing it on the snes, and was a good 30 or so hours in. For some reason the cartridge was loose, and I moved it the wrong way, which made me lose all of my saves. I did finally finish the game about 2 months after I had originally started it, but it was worth it, because ff6 is probably the only game I have gone to play again after the save has been lost.

One of the more heart-breaking moments of my teenage life was the day when I came home and my 40-memory-cards-in-one psx memory card died, thus deleting the last 3-4 years of my gaming. I kinda went into shock for a sec, like it didnt register but man did that suck bad...I never bought a third party memory unit ever again. It actually ended up blowing out my controller ports and memory card drives in the process so I needed a new playstation to boot...sad day...

Happened with me and Xenosaga. Anyone who's played it can probably remember a segment quite a ways into the game, where you have to go around this large portion of a city saving a bunch of people... I swear it took about 2-3 hours to complete, only for me to get utterly destroyed by the boss at the end and I never saved. Probably 8 some years later and I haven't touched it since...brunoafh wrote:If I lose over 2 hours of progress in an RPG then it's generally a game breaker for me. It's not even that I rage over it, I just usually don't feel like re-doing over 2 hours worth of stuff, and then I end up never bothering to play the game again.
The most epic glitch I've ever discovered on my own with a friend I'd say would be the infinite jumping glitch on the first mine cart level in Donkey Kong Country. I forgot how exactly to trigger it, but when you get hit when you have both DK/Diddy, when the second character jumps out of the cart if you start hitting the roll/jump button nearly simultaneously you can continually keep doing it and jump throughout the entire stage. I have no idea how my friend and I discovered it, but it was amazing. Back then we were stoked to put it on GameFAQ's or call up Tips & Tricks magazines or some crazy stuff, don't think we ever did though. haha

That's the worst case of lost saves I've ever heard.Jonesy47 wrote:One of the more heart-breaking moments of my teenage life was the day when I came home and my 40-memory-cards-in-one psx memory card died, thus deleting the last 3-4 years of my gaming. Super Mario RPG Legend of the Seven Stars
Lets just say I made it all the way to the volcano, the system accidentally got bumped, and my save was deleted!

I have had a very, very bad relationship with Metal Gear Solid.
I never had any playstation consoles until Xmas this year. When i was 13, my friend let me borrow his ps1 in exchange for my n64 for a week. the game i wanted to play the most was metal gear solid. I was sooo pumped. I played the shit out of it. I beat the first disk, only to have the second one not work. I was devastated, as no one else had a copy around here, and i had to give the playstation back.
Fast forward to about a month ago(almost exactly 10 years later) I obtained a copy for the PC. I was stoked that I would finally, FINALLY, be able to beat this friggin game... it worked great, until almost the exact same spot in the game...it kept crashing, no matter what I did, turns out it runs like crap on windows 7...uggghhh. I'm going to end up buying a playstation copy and playing it on my PS2, but its enough to make me want to scream. I dont want to play any of the other games in the series till I at least beat the first one, and I own 2 and 3 right now that I got a hell of a deal on...ugh.

The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past is the only save file I have had die on me. A friend told me I was about half finished with the game and loaned me his copy. Seven years later I still need to play it or return his cart. My copy of FFIX has a scratch on disk 2 that causes it to lock up, I've been too lazy to even try buffing it. I really was enjoying myself with both games but something about those situations takes the desire out of it for me.

The worst for me was Final Fantasy 10. I was playing the game very near its release, and I was really into it. Some friends came over on my birthday, and one of them was playing the game along side me. He wanted to show me a weapon he had crafted, so he loaded up his file, showed me the weapon, and then out of complete habit, saved his game... right over my file.
He is a really good guy, so I know he didn't do it on purpose, but it was really tough working my way back through it. The worst part? Before turning the game off, I had just reached the final save point, right before jecht.

....so many reminders of why I don't like RPG's, adventures, and post 4th gen gaming....
It's like saving was one of the worst features that could have happened to the industry.
