Why do people hang out in empty parking lots?
Re: Why do people hang out in empty parking lots?
I live in Seattle. We don't have big empty parking lots here.

Well, there is the park and ride under I-5 on James, but it's usually filled with homeless people. But car-wise it tends to stay empty outside of work hours.J T wrote:I live in Seattle. We don't have big empty parking lots here.

In my town I the only parking lot I see people hanging out in is a small parking lot downtown. I doubt their doing anything shady. I sure wouldn't do anything shady in a lit parking lot, right beside a courthouse, next to a highway, with a police station something like a block away.

My bus goes past there when I go to work at the hospital. It makes me sad to see. It didn't always used to be like that. This economy has hit some people really hard.MrPopo wrote:Well, there is the park and ride under I-5 on James, but it's usually filled with homeless people. Years ago my friends and I would meet at spot 37 (parking stall # 37) in the mostly abandoned industrial area of my town to drink 7-11 slurpies and smoke cigarettes. It was central to all our places and quiet I guess. Now that I think about it we did do several burnouts and donuts there. I think mostly we were bored and wanted to hang out somewhere we could chainsmoke without being bothered.

You mean like this pic. Another good reason is TACO Trucks at midnight.

Most of my teen years were spent in parking lots... skateboarding, drug deals and use, casual sex, talking shit to cops, dealing with crazies, fights, good times.

We used to just meet late at night on the 2nd or 3rd floor of parking structures. It's a cool, private place to chill with your friends and talk about the cars we drove in on.
